About 3 years ago I was faced with a decision, I was burnt-out and I was working through some mental health issues. I was trying to decide if I wanted to keep doing this.

I had an offer to sell my gym at a full evaluation, which was about as good as it gets for a gym owner trying to exit.

It was a good business, but nowhere near it’s full potential. Mainly because I was choosing only to focus on the roles I wanted to do day in and day out. Coaches classes, hang with my community, workout, all that stuff.

In the final hour I backed out of that deal and decided I was going to “burn the boats”, meaning I was going to go all in and make sure I reached full potential before I moved on.

The quote goes “If you’re going to take the island, burn your boats”, and that says it all. Set your self up for no other result than success. If this is your purpose and passion, your lifes work, and you’re going to go out, you should go out on your shield.

I burned the boats and within 2 years we 3x’d our revenue, from $225k, to nearly $700k annually. And this allowed to hire an awesome team of professional coaches, build an amazing community and pay ourselves a six figure salary on payroll with full benefits while working on our business less than 10 hours a week most weeks.

Getting there was work, it’s seriously all I focused on and paid off, and we changed a lot of lives along the way. Simply, because I had no choice but success.

Seriously, there are children being born as a direct result of my efforts to commit to this business fully and see it through to its full potential.

I post this because I realize many of you are feeling the effects of what 2020 has presented to us. And it might have you wondering if you want to continue down this path.

Being that we run businesses that have the ability to make MAJOR changes in some many peoples lives for the better I feel like its my purpose to help keep that in perspective as its easy to lose it when their is so much going on.

Because that’s the reason I started my gym in the first place, and why I kept going past that pivotol point….

To provide something the world needs, something I am good at, something I am passionate about and to make a good living doing it. That’s the holy grail of your life’s work.
