I always love the “about me” page on websites like this because they’re written in the third person …even though they’re typically written by the the owner of the site.

Which… in many ways, it is.
Anyway – is this what you wanted to know?
I’m 39 years old. I live in Scottsdale with my wife, Erin.
We have two kids, and a dog named Penny.

For many readers, my answer is NO.
Here is why...
I can not help you get rich quick.
It’s interesting how gym owners often associate “marketing” with a “get rich quick” scheme.
I get it. You want to run a gym, make money, and enjoy the freedom. That’s what drew me to opening my first gym in 2010 (but more on that later).
I believed it’d be easy money, with thousands rolling in daily, all on autopilot.
Well, it wasn’t easy money.
Eventually, I did have consistent revenue coming in daily, often on autopilot, but reaching that point took heaps of work, frustration, and perseverance.
And guess what? It still takes effort to keep everything running smoothly.
The gimmicks no longer work, the days of running ads to “bait and switch” get-fit-quick offers and discount offers focused on losing “30 pounds in 6 weeks” are gone.
That doesn’t work, unless you like spending all day using “sales tactics” to convince people to buy just to replace all the ones that just cancelled.
So, if you’re not ready to put in about ten times the effort you initially anticipated, I’m afraid I’m not the right fit for you.
If you’re looking for “The Easy Way”, I don’t want to help you.
It’s crucial that you understand what I’m saying…
I can help you; I just won’t. I’m capable of it, but I choose not to.
Why?
Because when I hear someone ask, “What’s the easiest way,” what I’m really hearing is, “I’m not fully committed to the long-term success of my own business… and therefore, not fully committed to the long-term success of my members and community.”
In other words, “I don’t want to work.”
Listen, growing a gym and building a tribe is HARD WORK. Sure, once it’s all up and running, it can be just like you imagined: Coach when you want, and the money rolls in while you sleep.
But achieving that takes HARD WORK to create and HARD WORK to maintain.
If you don’t want to grow your gym, you’re not going to enjoy my stuff.
No, I don’t sell advertising. But let me tell you why I’m sharing this.
Dive into the “Gym Marketing” rabbit hole, and you’ll find all sorts of “gym gurus” promoting themselves, talking about how all you need is their magical unicorn offers, and hyping up the “latest loopholes” for “gaming the system.”
Does any of it work?
Maybe, but only in the short term. If you rely on those tactics, you don’t have a real business. You have an income stream propped up by an unsustainable gimmick.
Frankly, that’s a waste of time. If you want to waste time, go watch a movie instead. It’s way more enjoyable.
